 Eden Hill's conception can be described in no other way than serendipitous. 

The best way to start a business, of course.

Sunday, June 14, 2015, Maximillian and Jennifer were in upper Queen Anne wondering if the restaurant at 2 Boston Street was still in business. Years earlier, while living in Texas, they'd fantasized about moving closer to their native Washington to open a restaurant and had seen this restaurant listed for sale. It was never more than a pipe dream. Now with a little more cash to their names and a Virginia address, their life was beginning to settle.

2 Boston Street was still open and as they walked back to their parked car, they stumbled upon 2209 Queen Anne Ave N. "That place looks cute," Jennifer said to Maximillian, admiring the bright, inviting dining room through the front door that happened to be propped open. "Why don't you go ask someone what it's like to have a restaurant in this neighborhood?"

Maximillian did, and minutes later bought a restaurant. 

Eden Hill opened it's doors to customers on September 4, 2015 after a whirlwind two and a half months of closing, moving, applying for business licenses, scraping together money, painting, wallpapering, hiring and prepping. Eden Hill became a Maximillian's lifelong dream materialized.

Today, Eden Hill has served thousands of customers with a small team of nine. The Petty family has grown from two to  four. We invite you to be a part of our story.








Born and raised in Bothell, Max's career began in his sister's Port Angeles restaurant at age 15. Max studied culinary arts at Lane Community College in Eugene, OR and has worked at restaurants across the United States, including ZaytinyaCremeKing Estate Winery, and Olivia. He was a 2016 , 2017, and 2018 James Beard Foundation Rising Star Chef semi-finalist, an Eater Young Gun semi-finalist, one of Austin's Under 40 and Zagat's 30 Under 30. Max lives on Queen Anne with his wife and children, and his favorite animal is the koala

Born and raised in the tiny farming community of Marshall, MI, Ashley earned her Bachelor of Arts from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Her career has spanned the United States, including an organic, family farm in upstate NY, Chez Panisse, and the Herbfarm. Ashley lives in Eastlake with her husband and her favorite animal is the domestic house cat.

A Washington native, Elizabeth fell in love with cooking because it's hands on, creative, and challenging; something she never found in her university studies. Elizabeth's cooked with several Seattle institutions, including Tom Douglas Catering, Daniel's Broiler, and Cafe Juanita before joining the Eden Hill team. She lives in Redmond with her husband, and her favorite animal is the giraffe



Line Cook

Born and raised in Hilo, HI, Sean knew he wanted a career where he both work hard and play hard, which lead him to culinary arts. A graduate of Hawaii Community College's Culinary Arts program, Sean has worked at Canlis, The Rainier Club, and Hilo Bay Cafe before joining Eden Hill. Sean lives in Northgate and his favorite animal is the north kohala nightingale.




Born in Houston and raised in Miami, Giulia moved in Bellevue in 2008 and fell in love with cooking through Newport High School's culinary arts program. She's previously worked for Miller's GuildHarvest VineMolly Moon's Ice CreamBrunswick & Hunt and Le Grand Bistro. She lives on Capitol Hill and her favorite animal is the siberian husky




A Level 1 Sommelier, Chauncey relocated to Seattle from California in 2014 and began working at the Herbfarm. An accomplished pianist and English major, he's a graduate of the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts and has previously worked at Bistro Laurent. Chauncey lives in Madison Park and his favorite animal is Patrick Swayze in Road House.




A Seattle native, Gillian's served at several restaurants across the country, including Dot's Charcuterie and Bistrot, Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar, and Vestal. Gillian lives in Ballard with her husband and her favorite animal is the pygmy marmoset.




Originally from Springfield, MA, Kim was drawn to the hospitality industry because it's a unique joy shared with strangers over food and wine. Kim's previously worked at Purple Cafe & Wine Bar, Lionhead, and Black Bottle. She lives in Interbay with her corgi, Phoenix, and her favorite animal is the fox.

Born in Idaho and raised in Leavenworth, Cody is a student of culinary arts because he likes how food can change someone's day or experience. He's previously worked at Kingfisher Restaurant and JOEY Kitchen. Cody lives in Mill Creek with his father, and his favorite animal is the snow leopard.




Raised in Graham, Franco decided to pursue the culinary arts after graduating high school in 2016. Franco's previously worked at Naka. He lives in West Seattle with his sister and brother-in-law, and his favorite animal is Squirtle.
